📢SSC JE Recruitment 2026 Notification Out – Apply Online for 1,748 Junior Engineer Posts

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for Junior Engineer Examination 2026. Through this recruitment examination, SSC will recruit eligible candidates for Junior Engineer (JE) posts in various Government of India organisations and offices.

A total of 1,748 tentative vacancies have been announced. The recruitment includes Junior Engineer posts in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electrical & Mechanical and Telecom disciplines, along with Scientific Assistant in India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The online application process has started from 02 September 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their applications online up to 22 September 2026.

⚠️ Important Vacancy Note

The 1,748 vacancies are tentative. SSC has stated that final/post-wise and category-wise vacancies will be made available separately on its website.

🎓 SSC JE Eligibility Criteria 2026

The educational qualification depends on the organisation and post.

1️⃣ Junior Engineer – Civil

Candidates may require:

• Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised University/Institute; OR

• Three-year Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognised University/Institute/Board.

For certain organisations, relevant work experience is additionally required.

2️⃣ Junior Engineer – Electrical

Candidates generally require:

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering; or

• Degree in Electrical Engineering,

depending upon the particular organisation/post.

3️⃣ Junior Engineer – Mechanical

Candidates may require:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering; or

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering,

with prescribed experience wherever applicable.

4️⃣ Junior Engineer – Electrical & Mechanical

Candidates may require:

• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; OR

• Three-year Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with the prescribed experience.

5️⃣ Junior Engineer – Telecom

⚠️ Experience Requirement

Wherever experience is prescribed, it must have been acquired after completing the required educational qualification.

Internship, training or research experience obtained while acquiring the qualification will not be counted as the required experience.

🎂 SSC JE Age Limit 2026

The crucial date for age calculation is 01 August 2026.

Depending on the post, the upper age limit is:

• 🔹 Up to 30 years

• 🔹 Up to 32 years

For posts with 30 years maximum age

Candidate should have been born between:

02 August 1996 and 01 August 2008

For posts with 32 years maximum age

Candidate should have been born between:

02 August 1994 and 01 August 2008.

🧾 SSC JE Age Relaxation

💰 SSC JE Application Fee 2026

The application fee is ₹100, while women, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from payment.

💼 SSC JE Salary 2026

Selected candidates will be appointed to Group 'B', Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial posts in Pay Level-6.

📝 SSC JE Exam Pattern 2026

The SSC JE examination will consist of two Computer-Based Papers.
