Standard photo & signature specs (common exams)
Exact requirements differ by notification. These presets match frequently used specifications:
- SSC / many central forms: photo roughly 3.5 × 4.5 cm, JPG/JPEG, often 20–50 KB
- Signature: white background scan, JPG, typically 10–20 KB, width around 400–600 px
- Always match aspect ratio and file size shown on the official upload screen
How to use the resizer
Prepare acceptable files in a few minutes:
- Choose Photo or Signature mode and pick a preset (SSC, Railway, UPSC-style, or custom).
- Upload a clear JPG or PNG from your phone or scanner.

Tips for a clear photograph
- Plain white or light-coloured background
- Face clearly visible, ears preferably visible, no sunglasses or cap
- Recent photo matching your appearance at exam time
- Good lighting — avoid shadows on face
- Do not over-edit or use filters

Why was my photo rejected on the application portal?
Common reasons: file size too large, wrong dimensions, non-JPG format, blurred image, coloured background, or face not clearly visible. Use the preset closest to your notification and re-upload.
Can I use a mobile photo?
Yes, if it is sharp, well-lit, and on a plain background. Crop to passport-style before uploading here.
What if my file is still too large?
Try the signature preset for smaller output, or reduce custom dimensions slightly. Very detailed images need more compression.
