Bank of Baroda (BOB) has released the official notification for Local Bank Officer (LBO) Recruitment 2026. A total of 2,482 Local Bank Officer vacancies are available across 20 States. The online application process starts on 18 August 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their applications up to 7 September 2026.
The recruitment is for JMG/S-I (Scale-I) officers. Candidates must have a graduation degree and at least 1 year of post-qualification officer-level experience in a Scheduled Commercial Bank. Candidates must also be proficient in the local language of the State for which they apply.
Important: This is an experience-based officer recruitment. Graduation alone is not sufficient; the prescribed banking officer experience is mandatory.

Candidates must possess:
Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University/Institution.
The educational qualification must be from an institution recognized by the Government of India/Government bodies/AICTE or the relevant regulatory authority.
The Bank has mentioned the following certifications as preferred:
IC 38 – Insurance Institute of India
NISM Series V-A – Mutual Fund Distributors Certification
NISM Series XXI-A – Portfolio Management Services (PMS) Distributors Certification
NISM Series XIII – Common Derivatives Certification Examination
These are preferred certifications, not the mandatory educational qualification.
This is one of the most important eligibility conditions.
Candidates must have:
Minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience as an Officer in any Scheduled Commercial Bank listed in the Second Schedule of the Reserve Bank of India.
Experience must be post-qualification.
Experience in the Clerical cadre will not be considered.
Experience of less than six months in an organization as on 01 August 2026 is not considered for determining eligibility, except where such experience forms part of the current employment.
Candidates must produce an appropriate experience certificate/job profile.
If the candidate's job profile does not substantially match the Scale-I officer profile, the Bank may reject the candidature.
The age will be calculated as on 01 August 2026.

Candidates shortlisted in the online examination will have to qualify the Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT).
However, candidates who produce a 10th or 12th standard marksheet/certificate showing that they studied the specified local language as one of their subjects will not be required to appear for the LPT.
A candidate can apply for only one State.
The candidate cannot submit multiple applications for different States. In case of multiple applications, only the latest valid completed application will be retained and fees paid for other applications will be forfeited.
The merit list will be prepared State-wise and category-wise.
The Local Bank Officer post is in:
Pay Scale: ₹48,480 – ₹85,920
The notification specifies the scale as:
₹48,480 – ₹2,000 – ₹62,480 – ₹2,340 – ₹67,160 – ₹2,680 – ₹85,920.
In addition to basic pay, selected candidates are eligible for applicable allowances and benefits under the Bank's policies and industry-level banking settlements.
One advance increment will be granted to candidates having one year or more officer-level work experience in a Scheduled Commercial Bank.
Selected candidates will generally be posted within the State for which they applied for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV Grade, whichever is earlier.
After that period, candidates may be posted by the Bank to any branch/office or any location in India according to the Bank's requirements.

The fee is non-refundable, irrespective of whether the online examination is conducted or whether the candidate is shortlisted for interview.
The selection process may consist of:

The Bank reserves the right to modify, add or remove stages of the selection process depending on recruitment requirements.
Candidates shortlisted through the online examination must qualify the LPT unless exempted through acceptable 10th/12th language documentation.
The Bank may shortlist candidates for GD/PI based on online-test performance and its prescribed cut-off criteria.
Minimum qualifying marks for GD/PI are:
General: 60%
Reserved: 55%
The Bank reserves the right to modify these criteria.
The tentative online examination consists of 120 questions for 120 marks, with a total duration of 120 minutes.

Except for English Language, the tests are available in English and Hindi.
The English Language test is qualifying in nature. Its marks will not be counted for the final merit list.
There is a penalty of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.
