Documents required for Sarkari job application
Complete list of documents needed for government job applications in India — ID proof, certificates, photos, and category documents.
Keep these ready before you apply
Government online forms ask for uploads at the time of application, and originals at document verification. Preparing scans in advance prevents errors and last-minute rush.
Identity & personal documents
- Photograph — Recent passport-size, plain background (check pixel/size in notification). Resize with our photo resizer tool
- Signature — Black ink on white paper, scanned clearly — use the signature preset
- Photo ID — Aadhaar, PAN, voter ID, passport, or driving licence
- Date of birth proof — 10th certificate or birth certificate
Educational certificates
- 10th mark sheet & certificate
- 12th mark sheet (if required for the post)
- Graduation / post-graduation degree and mark sheets
- Professional degrees (B.Ed, LLB, MBBS, B.Tech) if the post demands them
- Provisional certificate if final year result is awaited (only if notification allows)
Reservation & category documents
- OBC-NCL — Valid central/state certificate in prescribed format
- SC / ST — Caste certificate issued by competent authority
- EWS — Income & asset certificate for general category
- PwD — Disability certificate from designated medical board
- Ex-serviceman — Discharge book / service certificate
Other documents (post-specific)
- Domicile / residence certificate (common in state jobs)
- Experience certificates (for experienced posts)
- NOC from current employer (if employed in govt/private sector)
- Character / police verification (often at later stage)
- Computer / typing / shorthand certificates where required
Scanning tips
- Use PDF for multi-page documents; JPG for photo and signature
- File size limits are strict — compress without losing readability
- Name files clearly (e.g.
10th_certificate.pdf) - Keep both colour scans of certificates and self-attested copies for verification day
At document verification
Carry originals plus photocopies in the order listed in the admit letter. Any mismatch between online form data and certificates can lead to cancellation of candidature.
